UPDATE #19

TO: Beijing Conference Action and Resource Network
FROM: Judy Kramer JAHKramer@aol.com
DATE: September 14, 1997

This update has a lot in it--seven local events, a new book co-authored by Nancy Grandfield of San Carlos, three national or international conferences, a governmental report on follow-up to Beijing, and new web sites of interest to women. As always, I am struck by the breadth and depth of women's activities. In my next update, I would like to feature upcoming events for girls. If you have any information to be posted, please e-mail me.

LOCAL EVENTS

All Women Construction Crew

The All-Women Crew provides a meaningful experience to women who volunteer and financially support Mt. Diablo Habitat for Humanity. We accomplish this by providing a supportive environment where women can perform or learn construction work and by offering free training to our members. Meetings are the first Wednesday of each month at their office. For more information, contact (510) 933-1296

NEW BOOK

"Women Prints: a Detailed Plan of Action for the New Millenium"
by Ann Smith, Lucy Germany, Sr. Helena Marie, and Nancy Grandfield
Morehouse Publishing 1997

It can be ordered from the Office of Women in Mission and Ministry, 815 Second Avenue, New York, NY 10017. It sells for $12.95.

"Women Prints" is a collection of stories--many taken from women at the UN Fourth World Conference on Women--that reflect the conditions and inspiring initiatives of women all over the world. It is also a call to action based on the Platform for Action. Its purpose is to carry forward the work of all women. Local co-author, Nancy Grandfield of San Carlos, attended the UN Conference representing the Anglican Women's Network. You can contact her at granny4nan@aol.com.
