Title:
Artist/Exhibit Support Technician
I work in a museum which focuses on bringing artists
and scientists together to create interactive
exhibits and teach people about science and fun
things in life.
Path:
After working in youth/social services for about
8 years, I returned to school to study and got a
master's degree in Fine Art. In a few years I
learned and got experience in a variety of art
fabrication processes through school and my own
art-making practice. I have skills in woodworking/
furniture making,welding, analog electronics,
multimedia, and music composition. I submitted a
sculpture with my resume and poof, here I am.
Comments:
If you love working with your hands and building
things, learn as much as you can about the different
ways to make things with various materials. Then
start building things with those skills. Read
lots of magazines and books that talk about
those skills. Go to places like museums or
amusement parks or the theater that make you think
about what you are building. Be serious about
your tools and materials - they don't have to be
expensive, just good quality for what you are doing.
