My career is an example of how a career can continuously
Change:
I started as a Ph.D. in biochemistry. I got a job
as an analytical chemist for what was then Western
Electric, and slowly became a chemical engineer,
then worked in manufacturing processes, connector
engineering, and now I am an architect for the
network products that connect your phone to the
central office of a phone company.
Comments:
The world that young women are facing today is in many
ways very different from what we saw 30 years ago.
I would encourage young women to take as much interest
as they can in science and math, and above all in
computer technology. I cannot imagine almost any
career, no matter how "artistic", that will not have
a computer aspect to it. Don't let a lousy teacher,
or friends with limited vision, to influence
your future.
Do as many things with nails and screwdrivers as
you can.
